TROUP — A memorial service honoring the life of Shirley Ann Goodrich, 80, of Troup, will be held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Bethel Baptist Church in Chapel Hill, Texas with Forrest Bass officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. with memorial service at 11:00 a.m.
Shirley passed away on January 16, 2020 in Tyler, TX. She was born October 11, 1939 to the late Harpie L. Bass and Alvia Lee Bass.
Shirley loved people and never met a stranger. She welcomed and fed everyone at the Goodrich house. An avid music lover, performer, and critic, Shirley’s ear for melody started at a very young age. She was a self-taught pianist who sang and played throughout her life.
She and her husband Johnny worked together the majority of their adult lives in management and sales for companies in Tyler/Longview area. She retired in 2003 from Whitehouse ISD were she was the cafeteria manager. After retirement, she continued her love of music by playing the piano and singing for her church, Route 7, and many other musical groups. She could also be found attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities over many years.
Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, and an incredible Mimi. She was fiercely loved by those she has left behind. She is preceded in death by her parents Harpie and Alvia Lee (Mamaw) Bass, her brothers, H.L. Bass, Thomas E. Bass, David L. Bass; sister Doris Bass and her beloved husband of 45 years, Johnny G. Goodrich. Survivors include; siblings Mary Dell Jones of Lake Palestine; Jerry Bass and wife Jean, of Whitehouse; son Terry Reid and wife Susanne, of Troup; daughter Debbie Reid, of Longview and grandchildren; Whitney Reid, Jordan and Caylee Reid, Jansen Reid, Cooper Reid and many great grandkids, nieces and nephews.
