Softball Roundup: Grand Saline wins pitchers’ duel with Troup

GRAND SALINE 3, TROUP 2, 10 INNINGS
GRAND SALINE — Andie Houser double on an 0-2 count to drive in Sarah Elliott with the winning in the bottom of the 10th to give the Lady Indians a 3-2 in over the Troup Lady Tigers on Tuesday in a softball game.
After one out, Elliott singled to right center and moved to second on a wild pitch. After Delana Meyer walked, Houser brough home Elliott with the two-bagger.
Meyer pitched 10 innings, allowing three hits and two unearned runs while striking out 19 and not walking a batter.
Troup hurler Lindsay Davis was impressive in the circle as well, going 9.1 innings while allowing five hits and three runs with 19 strikeouts and four walks.
Elliott added a triple for two hits as did Houser, who had two RBIs.
Kinlee Rumfield hit a single and Addi Fisher drove in a run. Along with Elliott, Meyer and Houser scored runs.
Karsyn Williamson, Davis and Jessie Minnix had the hits for the Tigers with Mia Benson driving in two runs. Williams and Davis scored runs.
BROOK HILL 15, WINNSBORO 10
BULLARD — Sophia Arno was 4 for 4 with teammates Lita Harris and Mckenna Lovelady each driving in three runs as the Brook Hill Lady Guard scored a 15-10 win over Winnsboro on Tuesday in a softball game at Schwab Field.
Arno had double and three singles to lead the Lady Guard offensive. She drove in two runs and scored two runs.
Callie Bailey, Lovelady and Presley Mizel all had doubles with Harris and Lovelady collecting two hits. Singles were from Mollee McCurley and Bonnie Bunn.
Also driving in runs were Bailey (2) and McCurley (1).
Others scoring runs were Bailey (2), Maeci Wilson (2), Harris (2), Bunn (2), Mizel (2), Madyson McEuen (1) and Lovelady (1).
Brook Hill hosts a tournament on Thursday and Saturday. Joining the Lady Guard are Lindale, Jacksonville and Malakoff.
HENDERSON 13, LUFKIN 2
LUFKIN — Henderson scored in six of the seven innings, pounding out 13 hits and using a couple of pitchers to limit Lufkin to a couple of runs on five hits in a 13-5 win on Tuesday.
Milee Green, Madeleine Wells and Kaylie Clark all tripled for Henderson, and Jaci Taylor, Clark, Moriah Guerrero and Trinity Sledge doubled. Green had three hits and three RBI, Clark three hits and two RBI, Guerrero two doubles and an RBI and Sledge, Mikeya Washington and Taylor all drove in runs.
Wells struck out eight with no walks and no runs allowed on three hits in four innings. Kloee Carroll fanned five and walked two in three innings.
CENTRAL HEIGHTS 5, NEW DIANA 4
NACOGDOCHES — Nacogdoches Central Heights did all of its damage in the first inning, scoring five times and holding on for a 5-4 win over the New Diana Lady Eagles.
Averi Eddings, Brittany McLaughlin and Lexi Perry drove in runs for Central Heights.
Asia Newsome tripled and drove in a run and Haley Manns and Karly Meshell had doubles for New Diana. Meshell finished with two hits and an RBI, and Manns drove in one run.
WEST RUSK 11, CARLISLE 0
PRICE — Lilly Waddell tossed a one-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and one walk, and West Rusk opened the season with an 11-0 win over Carlisle.
Waddell gave up a single to Bree O’Neil, and that was all. She threw 50 of her 70 pitches for strikes in a five-inning complete game.
Piper Morton, Allyson Floyd and Kaelyn King all collected three hits for West Rusk. Morton tripled once and doubled twice. Floyd doubled twice and drove in a run and King had a double and plated three runs. Stormie Lejune added two hits, adn Natalie Christy, Abby Hernandez, Lejune and Taylor Davis all drove in runs.
Tori Esters took the pitching loss. She struck out eight and walked one.
