Another home run was hit for the Broadway Square Mall in Tyler as Dick’s Sporting Goods cut the ribbon Friday morning and the store officially opened.

Customers said they were pleased they did not have to drive to Longview to the nearest Dick’s Sporting Goods. They were also greeted by an NFL legend who played for the Dallas Cowboys.

“It’s been an overwhelmingly positive response from the community,” said Michelle Billardello, Dick’s Sporting Good’s community marketing manager. “There are a lot of athletes, sports fans and outdoors enthusiasts in the Tyler market. For us, with those customers and the (success of the mall) was attractive for us to come in and bring national brands.”

Dick’s Sporting Goods hired 75 employees.

“We are also constantly looking to hire additional teammates who are passionate about sports and want to join our team,” said Billardello.
