If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, check out this list of events and activities around East Texas.
”Little Shop of Horrors” presented by Theatre Longview, 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3 and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 4, Longview Community Center, 500 E. Whaley St., Longview. Tickets and information: theatrelongview.com .
Dog Days of Summer, 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 3, Ingram Pool, 1400 N. 10th St., Longview. The city of Longview will ends its pool season by welcoming canines for a dip. Longview Animal and Adoption Center representatives will be there to hand out microchip vouchers for their next clinic. The first 50 dogs receive a free tennis ball. All dogs must have tags and proof of rabies vaccination, and animals will be screened at the point of entry. No aggressive dogs or females in heat will be allowed. Admission: $3 per dog. Longview Cruisers Car Show, 5 to 7 p.m., Aug. 3, East Methvin Street (near courthouse), Longview. Admission: Free.
Historic Longview Farmers Market, 7:30 to 11:30 a.m., Aug. 3, corner of High and Cotton streets, downtown Longview. The market, a project of Preservation Longview, provides residents and visitors the opportunity to buy locally grown produce and other products directly from farmers and other merchants. Admission: Free.
Treasures on Canvas exhibit, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2, Goodman LeGrand Museum, 624 N. Broadway Ave., Tyler. Exhibit features the artwork of five local artists who have painted museum artifacts, room views and the museum’s exterior. Admission: Donation of $3 per person suggested. Back-to-school fundraiser where children can showcase their creative ventures, from lemonade stands to handmade crafts and more. Donations go toward purchasing school supplies for local students.
