The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visited Tyler this past week, and made it's rounds at local Brookshires-owned stores in preparation for the Fresh 15k run. It is pictured here outside Stanley's BBQ in Tyler

A 26-foot-long peanut on wheels, the Planter’s Nutmobile, traveled around Tyler last week, promoting Planter’s Peanuts and bringing smiles to those who saw it.

“We travel all over the country to different fairs, festivals, grocery stores — you name it — to show off the vehicle,” said Planter’s representative Adri-almond.

“It does weigh about 3 million peanuts,” she said. “We like to measure everything in peanuts.”

The ridges on the exterior shell that create the illusion of a traveling nut are made with pool noodles and fiberglass.

The Nutmobile primarily hung out in Brookshire’s grocery store parking lots, promoting the Fresh 15 run. Brookshire’s owns the Fresh brand.

Inside the Nutmobile is a timeline of Mr. Peanut, the Planter’s mascot, painted on the roof.

According to Planter’s, Mr. Peanut famously passed away at the end of January, only to be reanimated as “Baby Nut” during a viral advertisement during Super Bowl LIV.

A state-of-the-art sound system and set of televisions ordain the inside of the Nutmobile, as well as custom Planter’s embroidery, and a cutout of Baby Nut.

“You know, she’s 26-feet long and 11-and-a-half feet tall,” said representative Snack-time Sarah, “so to get her washed, one of our favorite things to do is go to fire stations, and they help us out.”

Also in town was the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. The two vehicles met up at the Fresh 15 run to promote the event. Both Oscar Mayer and Planters are owned by The Kraft Heinz Co.
