May 13: ‘Skateland’ hits theaters with many scenes filmed in Marshall

On this date in 2011, “Skateland,” a movie set in the 1980s in a small Texas town, hit theaters. 

Many scenes were shot in Marshall, where the mall became the set of the skating rink featured in the movie.

David Sullivan, who grew up in Longview, was in the cast.
