Delta Sigma Theta presents scholarships, honors

Tyler Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority presented scholarships to high school seniors, recognized contributions of community members and honored members for service during the recent virtual observance of its May Week Luncheon.

The scholarship recipients were Caitlyn Daye, Aylin Gonzalez, Amaris Johnson and Heather Roy. The Legatee recipients were Javion Caffey, Eric Carthen Jr, Adrian Lacy, Kimaja Nauls, Maya Walker and Emauri Watson.



Scholarship recipients were selected based on scholastic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service and an essay. Legatee recipients are high school and college students who have a parent in the sorority.

Christy Roach, the principal of Douglas Elementary School, was honored for contributing to Delta Academy, the chapter’s Educational Development Program.

Delta Milestone awards were presented to Leora Coleman, 25 years; Bertha McAfee, Vera Moore and Ora J. Taylor, 50 years; Juanita Anderson, 70 years; and Ollie Crawford, 75 years.
