Tyler’s Delta Sigma Theta, T.A.P.S. to host first-ever business expo

The Tyler Alumnae Chapter (TAC) of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., in partnership with the Tyler Area Public Service Foundation (T.A.P.S.), is announced the launch of its first-ever Standing on Business Pitch Competition and Business Expo.



Organizers say this landmark event is designed to support minority entrepreneurs by addressing common challenges such as securing funding, gaining opportunities, and receiving vital support.

“This is our way of making a financial impact in our community,” said Candace Porter-Condry, co-chair of the Economic Development Committee of the Tyler Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. “We want to provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs to learn, as well as showcase their products and services.”

Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event will take place at the Tyler Rose Garden, located at 420 Rose Park Dr. in Tyler. The event is open to the public and free of charge.

This funding is intended to assist in launching a new business or advancing an existing one. The panel of judges will consist of experts in various fields including business funding, marketing, taxation, and legal matters, who will also offer valuable insights throughout the day.

“As a business owner myself that often assists other entrepreneurs with business startup, budgeting and planning, I see the need daily,” Porter-Condry said. “We want to provide a community event for everyone to enjoy. There will be something for everyone.”

The business expo will include over 25 vendors offering a diverse range of products, services, and food from local trucks. The event aims to cater to attendees of all ages, from business owners to community members.

TAC and T.A.P.S. encourages everyone to participate in this day of inspiration, networking, and community support for minority business owners.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913 on the campus of Howard University to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.
