Keith Miller

TYLER, TX — Keith Miller, son, brother, fiancé, friend, and renowned personal injury attorney, passed away on September 13, 2024 at the age of 66 years.

Keith was born in Austin, Texas to Laura P. Miller and Ken T. Miller on October 3, 1957. He graduated from Bishop K. Gorman High School, attended Tyler Junior College, and completed his undergraduate work at University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

As a young man, Keith held a variety of jobs, including as a construction worker for Frances Kay in Tyler and as an insurance adjuster for State Farm. His time working with Longview, Texas attorney Blake Erskine as an errand runner and investigator put him on the path he would follow the remainder of his life as Blake became Keith’s mentor in the field of personal injury law.

Keith attended law school and obtained his juris doctorate from Thomas Cooley College of Law in Michigan. He then moved back to Texas as fast as he could to begin practicing law in Tyler. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas, and all four federal district courts in Texas.

Keith always championed the underdog. Since beginning his practice in 1990, he spent his 34-year career representing hard working men and women from all walks of life. He worked hard to protect his clients from insurance companies and big corporations. He had the great honor and privilege of representing several generations of clients. Additionally, he was one of the first attorneys in the area to advertise legal services on television. He tried very hard to educate his clients by way of these advertisements and was known for his booming warning “Don’t Give a Recorded Statement.”

Keith believed in taking care of his employees, whom he loved and considered to be members of his extended family. His work family includes Stephanie Edwards, Kim Fortenez, Nancy Hardin, Chad Harty, Samantha Huff, Randall McIntyre, Kathy Morman, Michelle Rodriguez and Carla Spier.

Keith loved collaborating with other talented attorneys and worked with many gifted attorneys over the years, including Randy Akin, Greg Burton, Charles Clark, Collen Clark, Blake Erskine, Blake Erskine Jr., Buck Files, Shane McGuire, and Chad Newman. Each client, case, and relationship brought purpose to Keith’s life.

Keith played like he worked, and, when not working, he enjoyed quick spontaneous road trips – often with just his toothbrush in hand and a pair of shorts. He delighted in driving the roads less traveled. He particularly enjoyed the beauty of driving on Queen Wilhelmina Parkway through Arkansas and Oklahoma. Keith had a knack for finding the best food in the least-likely of places.

Keith especially found joy with the company he kept on these adventures. He loved taking his mom Laura to explore the countryside and wildlife. He loved taking his mom, sister Kathy, and her husband Brett Morman to the Texas coast. His nephews, Christopher Morman, Stephen Morman and wife Katie, and especially his grand-nephew Isaac brought Keith much happiness and laughter.

Last year, Keith met his sweetheart and fiancé Charlotte Rocha. The two made many happy memories together.

Keith loved many and was loved by many. He will be sorely missed.

Keith is survived by his mother, Laura Miller; his sister and long-time paralegal, Kathy Morman and husband Brett; his nephews, Christopher Morman and Stephen Morman and wife Katie; grand-nephew Isaac Morman; stepchildren Heather Reed Welch and husband Stephen, Travis Reed and wife Kaylee; and Mark Brocksmith; as well as special friends, Chris Moser and Elayne Ledesma; and many cousins, countless friends and colleagues.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ken T. Miller, Attorney, and by his daughter, Stacy Ward Loftin.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Keith on September 20, 2024 at Jackson Burks-Walker-Tippit in Tyler. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
