East Texas native, former Green Bay Packers GM Ted Thompson dies at 68

Ted Thompson, an Atlanta native, died on Wednesday night at the age of 68.

Thompson competed in football, basketball, golf and track at Atlanta High School in the 1970s.

Thompson went on to play linebacker at SMU.

He was undrafted in the NFL, but landed with the Houston Oilers, where he played from 1975-84.

Thompson then worked as an executive in the NFL from 1992-2021 and served as the general manager of the Green Bay Packers from 2005-17.
