TYLER — Michael Ray Young passed into glory on October 31st, 2024 in Tyler, Texas at the age of 69.
Michael was born in Sulfur Springs, Texas on July 2nd of 1955, to the late Noble and Mildred Young. He was raised on a farm in Campbell, Texas as the youngest sibling in his family. As a teenager he thrived in sports like basketball. He found joy in being a youth pastor at several churches throughout East Texas while raising his children. In his later years, he found his place serving as the music minister of Lake Tyler Baptist Church. Ranger’s baseball and talking politics and guns were among his favorite pastimes. His life was marked by his carefree demeanor and a heart of worship for Jesus through singing, guitar playing, and chalk art.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wayne Young, a sister Ann Newsom, and wife Anita Young. He is survived by a sister, June Garza and husband Tony of Mesquite, Texas; his two children, daughter Kara Harding and husband Dwayne of Quinlan, Texas; and son John Young and wife Kacy of Tatum, Texas; and 8 treasured grandchildren: Wyatt, Vanna, Ronan, Vivee, Zahara, Knox, Vayda and baby Oaken on the way; along with many other dearly loved ones including Brittani and Micah Hennessy and their families. He will be deeply missed, yet we rejoice in knowing He is at peace and in the presence of the Lord of hosts.
A memorial service to celebrate Michael’s life will be held on Friday, November the 8th at 2:00 pm at Lake Tyler Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. No graveside service will follow.
