Brownsboro, Frankston, Brook Hill hosting tournaments this weekend

The annual Great East Texas Shootout and the Holladay and McCoy Insurance Frankston Invitational are among the basketball tournaments in East Texas this weekend.

The Great East Texas Shootout will begin Thursday in Brownsboro with 16 girls teams and 13 boys teams.

The girls will jump right into bracket play. Thursday’s girls first-round schedule is Corsicana vs. Bullard, 8 a.m.; Martin’s Mill vs. Chapel Hill, 9:30 a.m.; Palestine vs. Carthage, 9:30 a.m.; Tyler Legacy JV vs. Lone Oak, 9:30 a.m.; Brownsboro vs. Kerens, 10:45 a.m.; Grapevine vs. Edgewood, 10:45 a.m.; Tenaha vs. Ferris, 10:45 a.m.; and Mineola vs. Gladewater, 12:15 p.m. The second round will begin at 3:30 p.m.

The girls championship is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Saturday.

The boys will go through pool play on Thursday before beginning bracket play on Friday.

Thursday’s boys schedule is Van vs. Kilgore, 8 a.m.; Mineola vs. Rains, 8 a.m.; Brownsboro vs. Quinlan Ford, 12:15 p.m.; Sunnyvale vs. Mineola, 12:15 p.m.; North Lamar vs. Rains, 2 p.m.; Nevada Community vs. Tenaha, 2 p.m.; McKinney North vs. Kilgore, 2 p.m.; Quinlan Ford vs. Henderson, 5 p.m.; Canton vs. Nevada Community, 5 p.m.; Van vs. McKinney North, 6:15 p.m.; Sunnyvale vs. North Lamar, 6:15 p.m.; Brownsboro vs. Henderson, 7:30 p.m.; and Canton vs. Tenaha, 7:30 p.m.

The boys championship is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Holladay and McCoy Insurance Frankston Invitational will start with pool play on Thursday and Friday. Bracket play will begin on Friday once pool play is completed.

Thursday’s girls schedule is Alba-Golden vs. Grace Community, 8:45 a.m.; Timpson vs. Malakoff, 10 a.m.; Neches vs. Timpson, 12:30 p.m.; Grace Community vs. Frankston, 1:45 p.m.; Trinity vs. Alba-Golden, 1:45 p.m.; Frankston vs. Trinity, 5:30 p.m.; and Neches vs. Athens, 6:45 p.m.

Thursday’s boys schedule is Grace Community vs. Arp, 10 a.m.; Grapeland vs. Troup, 11:15 a.m.; Woden vs. Tyler HEAT, 11:15 a.m.; Beckville vs. Grace Community, 12:30 p.m.; Tyler HEAT vs. Frankston, 3 p.m.; Troup vs. Cayuga, 3 p.m.; Arp vs. Beckville, 4:15 p.m.; Cayuga vs. Grapeland, 5:30 p.m.; and Frankston vs. Woden, 6:45 p.m.

Friday’s girls pool play schedule is Timpson vs. Athens, 10 a.m.; Trinity vs. Grace Community, 10 a.m.; Frankston vs. Alba-Golden, 12:30 p.m.; and Neches vs. Malakoff, 1:45 p.m.

The girls championship is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The boys championship is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday.

Brook Hill will host the Lady Guard Invitational.

Friday’s schedule is Troup vs. Allen Academy, 11 a.m.; Tyler HEAT vs. Arp 12:30 p.m.; Midland Christian vs. Union Grove, 2 p.m.; Grand Saline vs. Geneva School, 3:30 p.m.; Allen Academy vs. Big Sandy, 5 p.m.; Midland Christian vs. Jefferson, 5 p.m.; Rusk vs. Geneva School, 6:30 p.m.; Troup vs. Covenant Christian, 6:30 p.m.; and Brook Hill vs. PTAA, 8 p.m.
