Severe weather impacts East Texas

Severe weather is affecting areas of East Texas with rain, strong winds and other threats.
A severe thunderstorm watch is active until 7 p.m. for Tyler, Mineola, Gun Barrel City and other areas of East Texas. A couple tornadoes are possible, and scattered hail the size of ping pong balls is possible. Scattered wind gusts could get as high as 70 mph, according to the National Weather Service of Shreveport.
A special weather statement is also active until 1:30 p.m. for the Lindale, Hawkins, Hideaway area of East Texas. Winds of up to 40 mph and half-inch sized hail are possible. Residents are advised to seek shelter in a sturdy structure during this time, according to NWS.
