From FUBU to Shark Tank and countless ventures in between, Daymond John’s entrepreneurial journey has spanned more than 25 years. He is set to speak Oct. 4.

An exciting entertainment lineup is coming to the UT Cowan Center for its 26th year.

Officials gathered for a luncheon on Tuesday where they announced the schedule for the upcoming season, themed “Unstoppable: Let the Celebration Continue.”

“The Cowan Center aims to surprise you with things unexpected,” said Susan Thomae-Morphew, executive director of the center. “We provide a high level of artistic talent that elevates the arts … in Tyler and beyond.”

Among those in the lineup is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Chicago set to perform in October. The Rock Hall calls Chicago “one of America’s most successful rock bands,” selling more than 100 million records and numerous top singles and albums. The band was inducted into the hall in 2016.

Included in the distinguished lecturers coming to Tyler is entrepreneur Daymond John, founder of FUBU and investor on ABC’s “Shark Tank.”

The Broadway series events include “Tootsie,” “Annie,” and “Chicago the Musical.”

The season’s theme has the title of song “Unstoppable” from the musical “Tootsie” in it. The “let the celebration continue” portion of the theme is in reference to having just celebrated the center’s 25th anniversary and continuing to celebrate through the 26th year, said Thomae-Morphew.

After a great 25th season, Thomae-Morphew said she is looking forward to a “super” 26th season.

“The arts are powerful,” she said. “They spark our creativity, they heal us through laughter and a spectrum of emotions, bring the community together, add some glue to our gaps and fill our souls. Humanity gravitates to the arts to escape and to grow.”
