Boys Basketball Notebook: West Rusk’s Jimmie Harper takes weekly honor

West Rusk’s Jimmie Harper is the Tyler Morning Telegraph Boys Basketball Player of the Week.

West Rusk’s Jimmie Harper has been named the Tyler Morning Telegraph Boys Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 16-21.

Harper averaged 25.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in wins over Elysian Fields and Waskom.

Against Elysian Fields, Harper had 20 points in the 65-47 victory. Harper then scored 30 points as West Rusk took a 60-46 win over Waskom.

Teammate Jaxon Farquhar averaged 15.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game.

In other outstanding performances in the area last week (based on information provided by coaches):



Tyler’s Ashad Walker averaged 21.5 points per game in losses to Longview and Mount Pleasant. He had 24 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals against Longview. Geordon Mitchell averaged 13.0 points.

Chapel Hill’s Demetrius Brisbon averaged 12.5 points in wins over Kilgore and Carthage. Cameron Kelley had 14 points and 11 rebounds against Kilgore.

Brook Hill’s Jakub Dluzewski averaged 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Brownsboro’s Gekyle Baker had 22 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Van. Bryce Bardin had 14 points.

Van’s Drew Reynolds had 16 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Brownsboro. Caden Rowe had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Troup’s Trae Davis had 13 points in a loss to Jefferson.

Tyler HEAT’s Waker Hartman averaged 17.3 points per game in four games in the Gulf Coast District Tournament in Monroe, Louisiana. Jackson Tomlin averaged 14.7 points, 7.3 assists and 7.3 rebounds. Against the Little Rock Flames, Tomlin had 19 points, six assists, five steals and five rebounds.

Mineola’s Braydon Alley averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.0 steals and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 78 percent from the field and going 4 of 4 from 3-point range.

Alto’s Keegan Davis averaged 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals in games against Cushing and Carlisle. Jackson Duplichain averaged 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals.

Quitman’s Brady Floyd averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in losses to Mineola and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill.
