- GreenPal, a new app launched in Tyler last month helps residents find lawn care services in an easy and convenient way.
A new app launched in Tyler last month with a focus to bring convenience to residents and businesses looking for lawn care providers in the area.
GreenPal, founded by Gene Caballero, offers landscaping services at the click of a button.
“GreenPal, which has been described as Uber for lawn care, basically offers any landscaping services outside of the home at a click of a button,” said Caballero.
Caballero said the app is unique its convenience and ease of use.
“In less than a minute, a homeowner can list their lawn and start getting bids from pre-screened local vendors in the area,” he said. “Typically a homeowner would have to ask a neighbor or a colleague, who mows their lawn, or even scour the internet and call landscaping companies for them to come out and give them a quote. We give homeowners up to five quotes in minutes.”
Caballero, who has worked in the landscaping industry most of his life, said his first job out of college help prepare him to start the business.
“I have been in the landscaping industry most of my life; even doing landscaping on the side up until I started GreenPal in 2012. My first job out of college was actually in sales so I was privy to newer technologies like Uber and Lyft because my territory was on the West Coast,” he said. “I knew that at some point someone would offer this on-demand service for landscaping so I figured with my background it should be me.”
He went on to say he believes the consumer mindset has shifted and expects services like this to already exist.
“No one wants to call or meet someone at a property to get landscaping done. But who we are really helping is the landscaping professional,” Caballero said. “Not only are we handling their demand creation, but we are also handling their route optimization, scheduling, and their payment processing. GreenPal is the first true operating system for landscaping professionals.”
Caballero said it is free to sign up for both homeowners and vendors.
“For homeowners, it’s free to sign up and get bids; there is no obligation. If they don’t want to move forward with a vendor, they don’t have to do so,” he said. “Also for vendors, it is free as well. They do not have to pay anything to join the GreenPal platform or to bid on properties after they have been vetted online. If a homeowner sees a price that they like, that’s all they pay.”
“There are no convenience fees or junk fees associated with GreenPal. If a homeowner is quoted $30 for lawn mowing, that is what they pay,” Caballero added. “GreenPal just takes 5% of the transaction.”
How does GreenPal work? Homeowners looking for lawn care can go to the website or download the free app.
“They enter in the address and the date of the property that they want serviced. That alerts all the prescreen vendors in the area that there’s a new lineup for bid,” Callabero said. “These local vendors bid on the property based on the Google aerial view and the Google Street view, and also the square footage of the property.”
“The quotes then go to the homeowner for review,” he said. “The homeowner can see the vendor’s ratings, reviews, and price and then decide who they want to work with.”
