Grand Saline, Chapel Hill, Sabine, Frankston players honored

Each week it gets tougher and tougher to determine Players of the Week.
The performances continue to be electric.
The Tyler Morning Telegraph/ETVarsity.com Players of the Week for Week Four of the high school football season include: Offense — Grand Saline quarterback Jett Taylor; Defense — Chapel Hill outside linebacker Trevor Brooks; Special Teams — Sabine placekicker Jovanny Jaimes; and Offensive Line of the Week — Frankston Indians.
Previous winners were: Week 1: Offense — Chapel Hill quarterback Demetrius Brisbon Jr.; Defense — Tyler linebacker D’Canaan Sueing; Special Teams — Troup’s Bryce Wallum; and Offensive Line of the Week — Chapel Hill Bulldogs; Week 2: Offense — Brownsboro quarterback Adam Thompson; Defense — Tyler defensive back Jeremiah Taylor; Special Teams — Kilgore’s Leo Yzaguirre; and Offensive Line of the Week — Troup Tigers; and Week 3: Offense — Bishop Gorman wide receiver David Phillips; Defense — Troup defensive end Chris Calley; Special Teams — Tyler’s Zachuan Williams; and Offensive Line of the Week — Van Vandals.

OFFENSE
Taylor, the sophomore quarterback, continues to excel for the Grand Saline offense.
The 6-1, 180-pounder led the Indians to a 45-6 victory over the Eustace Bulldogs on Friday at Bulldog Stadium in Eustace.
Taylor was 6 of 11 passing for 123 yards, and he had 20 carries for 253 yards and two touchdowns.
It was the second consecutive victory for Grand Saline as the Indians improve to 2-2 on the season.
Taylor and the Tribe will return to play to play on Friday, hosting the Quitman Bulldogs (3-1) in the District 9-3A Division II opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Carter Elliott Field at Indian Memorial Stadium.
DEFENSE
Each week the explosive Chapel Hill offense gets the headlines, but the Bulldogs have a stellar defense as well.
Outside linebacker Brooks was all over the field for the Bulldogs in the 42-22 victory over the Nacogdoches Golden Dragons on Friday at Bulldog Stadium in New Chapel Hill.
Brooks had 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, three sacks and an interception. The junior also has a strong leg to boot. Brooks averaged 58 yards on punts.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 on the season and ranked No. 1 in Class 4A Division I.
Chapel Hill has an open date this week, but returns to play on Sept. 29, traveling to Palestine to meet the Wildcats in the District 9-4A Division I opener at Wildcat Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Walk-off wins are exciting in baseball or football.
Sabine did just that on Friday night as Jaimes booted a 47-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Cardinals to a 30-27 upset of previously state-ranked Mount Vernon at James Bamberg Stadium Stadium in Liberty City.
The Cardinals are 3-1 on the season, already surpassing last year’s win total of two.
Sabine returns to play on Friday, traveling to Pittsburg to meet the Pirates (1-3). Kickoff at Pirate Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
OFFENSIVE LINE
The Frankston line helped the Indians to a 56-27 win over Winona on Thursday at Jeff and Opal Austin Stadium in Frankston.
The Indians won their third straight game to go to 3-1 on the season.
Frankston totaled 546 yards, including 471 yards rushing with seven TDs. The Indians also had a passing touchdown, from Cason Bizzell to Davis Holladay.
The starting offensive line for the Tribe include left tackle Sir’Isaac Foster, left guard Aydan Lewis, center Carson Allen, right guard Logan Zahorski and right tackle Brayden Dotson. Levi White and Rance Harper
Levi White and Rance Harper are also part of Coach Paul Gould’s rotation at guard.
Kaymon Davis rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Tyler Rogers added 116 yards and two TDs on 17 attempts. Adrian Donnell scored two touchdowns, while Bizzell and Bo Donnell added scores.
Plus, Coleman Merritt was 8 of 8 on extra points.
The Indians open District 10-2A Division I play on Friday at Harleton (3-1). Kickoff at Wildcat Field is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
