UT Health welcomes Adam Newman to Jacksonville

UT Health East Texas is expanding obstetrics and gynecology services in Jacksonville with the addition of Adam Newman MD, FACOG.

Newman has practiced around the country, but he is happy to be coming back to Jacksonville because it has always felt like home.

“I’ve been to bigger cities where I felt I didn’t have enough time to connect with patients,” he said. “I would rather have the extra time to get to know them.”

He said that kind of personal approach is a perfect fit for Jacksonville.

“I like being able to walk about town and recognize my patients. I want to be a part of their lives and not just be the doctor at the office,” Newman said.

Newman is welcoming patients at 203 Nacogdoches St., Ste. 370 in Jacksonville.

UT Health welcomes Cassandra Rasmussen to Tyler

UT Health East Texas is expanding behavioral health services in Tyler with the addition of Cassandra Rasmussen, PsyD.

Rasmussen has a special interest in helping patients with weight loss, medical rehabilitation, sports performance and trauma recovery.

“I aim to act as a guide to my patients using evidence-based practices and current research. Patients very often hold the answers; sometimes they simply need help finding them,” she said. “I will gently challenge my patients to dig deeper while reassuring them they are psychologically safe in the moment and not alone.”

Rasmussen chose to pursue psychology because regardless of life’s outcomes, our mental/emotional/spiritual life will dictate our perception.

“This perception alters the way we interact with others in relationships and with ourselves. I aim to teach patients how to become more self-aware to make the changes necessary to support their goals,” she said.

Dr. Rasmussen is dedicated to helping others maximize their potential, heal and create their dream life stating, “Let’s ask why and problem-solve together.”

Cassandra Rasmussen is welcoming patients at 11937 U.S. Hwy 271 in Tyler.

TDEM Section Chief Michael Bradberry promoted

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) announced recently the promotion of Section Chief Michael Bradberry to Assistant Chief for the newly-drawn TDEM Region 3.

“In his new role, Assistant Chief Bradberry will continue his honorable career in the community where he grew up,” said Texas Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd. “I am confident in his ability to lead Region 3 and further our responsibility to support Texas communities before, during, and after disasters.”

Bradberry began his DPS career in 1994 as a Trooper stationed throughout East Texas, where he honorably served every county within the new region which he now leads. During his 27 year law enforcement career, he promoted to the rank of Major, and worked in many duty stations across Texas, including service in the DPS Office of Inspector General.

Additionally, Bradberry has served as a TDEM Regional Section Chief for Preparedness and Response since 2021.

He has degrees in Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin University and the FBI National Academy.

Bradberry will be stationed in Lufkin.

TDEM now has 8 geographic regions, an increase from 6, to reflect and address its commitment to service delivery at the local level for emergencies and disasters throughout Texas. The new boundaries for TDEM Region 3 encompass Northeast, Deep East, and Southeast Texas.

Kidd also announced the promotion of Section Chief Erica McDowell to Assistant Chief of TDEM Region 1, which encompasses Northwest Texas from the Panhandle to the Big Country.

Assistant Chief Brandi Ashby, who served in Northwest Texas for the past 5 years, has transferred to the newly-created Region 8, headquartered in College Station.
