Jo Ann Untersee Johnson

TYLER — Jo Ann passed away on September 24, 2023 at the age of 96, into eternal life with her savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Jo Ann was born in Port Washington, Wisconsin on October 7, 1926, the daughter of Ernest Warner Untersee and Johanna Baptista Untersee.

Jo Ann met the love of her life, Raymond F. Johnson (1931-2021) in Tyler and they were married in Dallas, Texas. Raymond was stationed near Liverpool, England and Jo Ann joined him in 1951, until they returned to Tyler in 1954.

In the 1960s, Raymond and Jo Ann began building homes, and together they built a successful real estate business that spanned many decades.

Jo Ann is survived by her two children, Greg Johnson of Atlanta and Cathy Humphrey (and her spouse, David), in addition to four grandchildren, Jordan Humphrey, Tyler Humphrey, Whitney Williams (and her spouse, Chase), and Nicholas Humphrey (and his spouse, Audra); and five great-grandchildren in addition to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Warner, Max, Paul, John, Walter, and Joe Untersee, and by her sister, Trudy Dudley.

She attended the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Tyler and St. Mary Magdalene Church in Flint, Texas. She will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler.

A rosary for Jo Ann Johnson will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler. Catholic Mass will be on Thursday, September 27, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Tyler.
