TJC soccer teams sweep doubleheader

The nationally ranked TJC soccer teams swept a doubleheader with Northeast Texas Community College on Tuesday in Mount Pleasant.

The No. 3 Apache Ladies scored 14-0 win over the Lady Eagles, while the No. 6 Apaches defeated the Eagles 6-1.



Now it is on to the playoffs. The Tyler Junior College women will play host to Northeast Texas at 1 p.m. Friday at Pat Hartley Soccer Complex.

The TJC men will take on Jacksonville at 6 p.m. Saturday at Pat Hartley.

WOMEN

TJC (14-0-2, 11-0-2 in Region XIV) led 9-0 at halftime.

Avery Green, a freshman from Ben Wheeler who graduated from Van High School, had a hat trick, while Sam Roddenhof, a freshman from Arnhem, The Netherlands, had two goals and four assists in the big win.

Scoring two goals each were Camille Marlin and Jacie Meredith. Adding one goal apiece were Kyleigh Spain, Madison McBride, Riley Weekly and Carmen Garcia. There was also a team goal.

Marlin added four assists with two from Riley Massey and one each by McBride, Meredith and Marin Love.

Jessi Curry and Caleigh Monroe shared goalkeeping duties for the clean sheet.

The Lady Eagles are 0-13 and 0-12.

MEN

The Apaches recorded their eighth straight win to improve to 13-1-1 overall and 9-1-1 in conference.

NET scored the first goal before TJC reeled off six consecutive goals, of which five came in the first half.

Hagan Cupido and Ato Smith Jr. led Tyler with two goals apiece with one each from Noe Robles and Tony Ngmobi.

Assists were from Smith, Yart Van Lieshout, Jaime Villagomez, Iman Ouedraogo Jr., Ryan Muldoon and Robles.

Alfred Mikkelsen was in goal for the Apaches.

The Eagles (3-8-2, 3-6-2) will travel to Lufkin on Saturday to face Angelina in a 7 p.m. contest.
