A Tyler doctor’s medical license has been temporarily suspended.

A disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Kenneth D. Haygood, on Tuesday, according to a press release from the TMB.

The board said the panel determined Haygood’s “continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare.”

The board panel found that Haygood was allegedly in violation of a June final order which restricted him from seeing and treating female patients, according to the TMB.

The June 9 order prohibited Haygood “from seeing, examining, treating, prescribing to, providing consultation for, or otherwise practicing medicine on female patients, including telemedicine…”

“The board found Haygood failed to meet the standard of care and did not obtain consent prior to performing a physical exam of a female patient, inappropriately discussed the encounter with the patient’s mother and her husband via text message disclosing her confidential medical information and Protected Health Information, and in an attempt to intimidate them as witnesses,” a June report by the TMB stated. “The order resolves a formal complaint filed at the State Office of Administrative Hearings.”

This temporary suspension remains in place until the board takes further action.

“A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days’ notice to Dr. Haygood, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Haygood,” the TMB said in a statement.

The suspension was effective immediately.
