In a gesture of support for innovation and creativity in education, the Winona Education Foundation recently donated funds toward grants for great ideas. The foundation’s President, Dexter Jones, and Vice President, Pat Schlau, were present at a special event held on Thursday, Nov. 16 to surprise the winners.

The grants for Great Ideas initiative, an annual program spearheaded by the Winona Education Foundation, provides educators within Winona ISD an opportunity to bring their innovative teaching ideas to life. These grants aim to empower teachers to enhance the learning experience for their students through the implementation of fresh and inspiring educational projects.

With enthusiasm, Jones and Schlau presented the grants to this year’s deserving winners. The chosen grant recipients, whose proposals were selected from a pool of esteemed educators, expressed their excitement and gratitude for the WEF’s support.

Jones lauded the teachers for their exceptional dedication and efforts to enrich education within the district.

“Today we celebrate the incredible talent and passion of our teachers, who continuously strive to make a difference in the lives of students,” he said. “The grants for great ideas program is a testament to the WEF’s commitment to fostering a culture of innovation within our schools.”

Schlau also expressed her admiration for the winners and their outstanding contributions to education.

“We are proud to support these exceptional educators who continually push the boundaries of teaching and learning,” she said. “It is through their visionary ideas that we can shape the future of education in Winona.”

The Winona Education Foundation’s commitment to the advancement of education is well-known throughout the community. By investing in teachers’ innovative ideas, the foundation continues to build an environment where students thrive and discover their true potential.

“Going forward,” said Winona ISD Superintendent Damenion Miller, “these inspiring grant projects are set to make a significant impact on students’ educational experiences within the Winona School District, fostering a love for learning and nurturing a culture of innovation.”
