Janet A. Creasman
TYLER — Janet Anderson Creasman, 83, of Tyler, Texas went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 15, 2025 with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on September 26, 1941 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Dr. John Bascom Anderson and Maude (Honey) Nanney Anderson.
Janet was presented at the Rhododendron Club in Asheville and after graduating from Lee Edwards High School in Asheville; she attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
She met the love of her life, Donald Reid Creasman, on a blind date during their time in college, and they were married on September 7, 1963. They shared 50 years together and were blessed with a son and two daughters. Her husband’s employment required them to move to several locations before they eventually settled in Tyler in December 1977.
Janet worked as an Elementary and Preschool teacher in her early years. After her children became adults, she was employed part-time at the Brookshire’s World of Wildlife Museum Country Store. Her most important accomplishment and her greatest joy was dedicating herself to being a full-time wife and mother at home. She created a warm and loving home supporting her husband, children, and grandchildren in all their activities and continued to be involved and support them over the years. Recently, she delighted in time spent with her great- grandchildren.
Janet loved the Lord Jesus Christ with a steadfast and deep faith and served her church faithfully in many capacities throughout the years. She was also a dedicated prayer warrior committed to her daily prayer time and bible study.
Janet loved people. Her friends and family were a priority, and nothing gave her more joy than being with them. She constantly expressed and demonstrated her love to her family and to her friends, ending every phone call or visit with, “I love you”. Her kind, caring, positive, cheerful and loving personality endeared her to everyone, and she was beloved by all that knew her.
She loved traveling the world with her husband, her family and her friends. In recent years, her annual trips with her High School girlfriends gave her much joy. She also enjoyed reading, watching golf and football, playing bridge, monthly Birthday Group Lunches with “the girls” and any activity that involved being with others. She was always “ready to go” and ready to have fun.
Janet was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, The Bridge Builders Sunday School Class, The Jr. League of Tyler, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and a former member of the Women’s Symphony League of Tyler.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Janet is survived by her children; son, Scott Creasman (Lauren); daughters, Kelly Buckner (Jason) and Ashley Odom (Chris); grandchildren, Dr. Elisabeth Barnhart (Sam), Kristy Burns (Tyler), Michelle McMeans (Drew), Lindsay Creasman, Holden, Hunter and Blake Buckner, Austin, Allison, and Abigail Odom; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Madison Burns and Isabelle McMeans. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas with Rev. Kevin Burdette officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
