Shining light on wasteful spending

I saw the article in the Feb. 7 edition of the Tyler Morning Telegraph about the small group of people protesting the role of Elon Musk and his role in the government.

If any of those protestors would have taken the time then they would know how Musk conducts business and the fact that he hates wasteful spending. If it takes someone like Musk to shine a light on how much money our government wastes, then I am all for it.

As for the protestors, where were they when the Democrats told us the border was closed, that crime was down, that inflation was not real, that Joe Biden was “sharp as a tack” and that it was OK for boys to compete against girls in sporting events? I sure don’t recall seeing them on the front page of the paper.

Thank you, Mr. Knight

This letter is addressed to longtime outdoors columnist Mr. Steve Knight.

Even though my mobility issues keep me from enjoying the great outdoors that I enjoyed for 80-plus years, I still enjoy your articles in the paper. I hope you and yours are doing well. You might even have grandchildren by now!

Electoral College serves U.S. well

I have been a reader of the Tyler Morning Telegraph for four or five decades and am a conservative East Texan.

Your Feb. 1-2 edition had an article from New York Daily News about abolishing the Electoral College. Bad idea!

The Electoral College has served us well for over 200 years. It protects the rights of the smaller states, without the Electoral College, our presidential elections would be controlled by a few of our largest states, such as California and New York. Without the Electoral College, the lowest population states (Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska) would hhave no influence in presidential elections.
