KILGORE — Northeast Texas Regional MRF has opened a new 50,000-square-foot Materials Recovery Facility in Kilgore.

This new facility is designed to process both residential and commercial single-stream recyclables, as well as commercial cardboard, making recycling more accessible and efficient for the local community.

By improving recycling capabilities, NETX says it is taking a significant step toward reducing landfill waste and promoting sustainability in the region.

The facility features cutting-edge mechanical sorting technology that can efficiently process a wide range of materials, including paper, plastics, aluminum, and cardboard. With its single-stream recycling system, residents and businesses can place all recyclables into a single bin, simplifying the process and encouraging greater participation in recycling efforts.

“We are thrilled to open this new facility in Kilgore, which will not only help reduce environmental impact but also support the local economy,” said Todd Lucas, general manager of NETX. “With over 30 years of experience in single-stream recycling, we’re well-equipped to handle growing volumes and continue driving sustainability in Northeast Texas.”

The facility will hold an open house this spring for the public to tour and learn more. It will not be open to the public, but will be working with local businesses.

Key Features of the New MRF:

• 50,000 square feet of enclosed, efficient processing space, ensuring clean and safe operations.

• Advanced sorting technology to maximize recycling efficiency and minimize contamination.

• Capability to process both residential and commercial recyclables, including commercial cardboard.

• Certified scales for accurate tracking and reporting.

• Support for municipal solid waste departments and waste haulers to streamline local recycling operations.

• Commitment to sustainability by diverting thousands of tons of recyclables from landfills each year.

• Job creation to support local employment and economic growth.

This new facility is expected to create local jobs, improve regional recycling efforts, and make a significant positive environmental impact on the community, they said.
