Girls Soccer Notebook: Palestine’s Adetoro Adedeji takes weekly honor

Palestine’s Adetoro Adedeji has earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Soccer Player of the Week honors for games played Feb. 10-15.
The Palestine senior captain forward scored five goals in an 8-0 win over Diboll and then had four goals and two assists in an 8-1 win over Oak Cliff Faith Family.
In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):
Tyler Legacy’s Brianna Garcia scored five goals in wins over Rockwall-Heath (3-1) and Royse City (3-0). Garcia had a hat trick against one of the top goalkeepers in the metroplex in the win over Rockwall-Heath. She scored two of the three Lady Raider goals against Royse City.
Grace Community junior Addison Eli had two goals and two assists to help the Lady Cougars take wins over Bishop Dunne (3-0) and Regents School of Austin in the TAPPS Division II District 2 Tournament, leading Grace to its third straight district championship.
Bishop Gorman goalkeeper Riley Hillin had 35 saves in two games.
Chapel Hill sophomore captain Gabryel Kissam had a hat trick and four assists in an 8-0 win against Van and then scored a goal in a 3-2 loss to Oak Cliff Faith Family.
In the Lethal Soccer State Rankings, Tyler Legacy is No. 29 in Class 6A; Jacksonville No. 32 in Class 5A; and Bullard No. 12, Pine Tree No. 24, Henderson No. 34 and Palestine No. 37 Class 4A.
East Texas teams ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings are Jacksonville No. 8 in 5A; and Bullard No. 5, Kilgore No. 14 and Spring Hill No. 22 in 4A.
