Jonny Louvier announced that he is resigning as the athletic director and head football coach at Gladewater High School in a statement he posted on Facebook on Tuesday morning.
Louvier wrote, “I am writing this to inform you of my intent to resign from my current position of AD/HFC at Gladewater High School. I have been offered and accepted a position outside of education. It is a great opportunity for me, and I get to watch my kids participate in extracurriculars more. I will forever be grateful for my time here. I grew up a Bear and am very excited for my kids to do the same, but at this time in my life, I want to do it as a community member who supports and helps Gladewater ISD. I know this job will be very attractive, and Mrs. Patty as well as the school board’s support for athletics will ensure the next person is the best option for the kids of Gladewater. Go Bears!”
Louvier said he has accepted a job at TeamFunded, a fundraising app for sports teams.
Louvier, who also played at Gladewater, steps down after five seasons as the head football coach at Gladewater, leading the Bears to a record of 27-28 and four trips to the postseason. The Bears went 4-6 this season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
Louvier was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Arp from 2007-14. He was the athletic director and head football coach at Frankston in 2016, posting a 4-6 mark. He was the offensive coordinator for Tyler Lee in 2017. Louvier was the head coach at Spring Hill in 2019, leading the Panthers to a 6-6 record and a trip to the playoffs for the first time since 2007.
Louvier has a 37-40 record overall.
Gladewater has made the postseason in 10 of the past 12 seasons under Jerrod Baugh, John Berry and Louvier. The Bears compete in District 8-3A Division I with Jefferson, Liberty-Eylau, Atlanta, Tatum, White Oak and Sabine.
