Organizers of the Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant are inviting women to an upcoming meet-and-greet event to learn more about the 2026 event.
Designed to honor and celebrate Texas women 60 years or better, the pageant is in its 10th year in Tyler. The meet and greet is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the Sylvania Church, located at 2801 South Southeast Loop 323 in Tyler. Women are invited to this come-and-go event to learn more about the upcoming pageant, which will be held in September.
Pageant State Director Peggy Wagner, of Plano, will be on hand to meet both prospective and former contestants, talk about the pageant, and spend personal time answering questions. Reigning queen Dorothy Phillips, Co-Director Brenda Hammond and Assistant Director Jo Anne McMeans will also be on hand.
The Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant hosts four categories, including “Philosophy of Life,” “Judges’ Interviews,” “Modeling,” and “Talent.”
“Everyone has a ‘talent,’ whether it be singing, dancing, playing an instrument, displaying some art or handiwork or reading a poem,” Mrs. Wagner said.
Mrs. Wagner is a professional choreographer, so contestants receive free modeling lessons.
The Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant is a way for women across the state to grow personally but also provides women a positive outlet for community, fellowship and fun. Several of the contestants meet each other for the first time at an annual themed tea given in honor of the pageant contestants. There are also other opportunities to fellowship during the year.
Ladies living across the Lone Star State are invited to attend the meet and greet. They must be 60 years or better and have lived in Texas for at least six months.
Applications will be available. Light refreshments will be served.
Guests are invited to mark their calendars to attend the pageant set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Holiday Inn, 5701 S. Broadway in Tyler. Registration and other events for contestants on Friday, Sept. 18.
