Smith County groups hosting watch parties on Election Night

It’s Election Day, and local groups invite the public to join them as they watch results roll in tonight.

The Smith County Democratic Party and Republican Party, along with other political groups and candidates, will be hosting public watch parties.

Where to go 

Each watch party is open to the public.

Republican Party 

Smith County Republican Party: Rick’s On the Square, 104 West Erwin Street, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.

Judge Andy Dunklin’s Election Night Watch Party: South Spring Baptist Church Student Building, 17002 US-69, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Austin Luce’s Election Night Watch Party: Historic Hand-Mayfield-Hunt House, 223 East Charnwood Street, starting at 7 p.m.



Shawn Scott’s Election Night Watch Party: Javi’s, 7212 Old Jacksonville Highway, from 7 – 10 p.m.

Democratic Party 

Smith County Democratic Party: BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, 210 West Southwest Loop 323, starting at 7 p.m.

Smith County Young Democrats: The Jalapeno Tree, 420 West Southwest Loop 323, starting at 7 p.m.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

While local races will mostly be decided during the primaries, many state and federal races will move on to the November general election. In those races, winners of the Democratic and Republican primaries will face each other in November. For example, the winner of the Republican Primary for governor will face the winner of the Democratic Primary on Nov. 3.
