Legacy softball goes 5-0; Coach Sam Weeks collects 300th career win

Tyler Legacy softball had a 5-0 weekend in the TASO Softball Tournament, which in turn resulted in career win No. 300 for Tyler Legacy head softball coach Sam Weeks.
That 300th win came in a 15-1 victory over Big Sandy on Thursday.
“Reaching my 300th win is a huge milestone, not just for me, but all of the players I’ve had the privilege of coaching and the coaches that I have had beside me,” Weeks said. “I have truly been blessed over the last 17 years with some very talented and hard-working young ladies who truly bought into a culture that I have established.”
Weeks is in her second year at Legacy after 15 years at Troup, where she compiled a 288-153-5 record. Legacy went 6-19 last season and are now 8-3 this season.
In the game against Big Sandy, Felicity Hartley allowed one unearned run on one hit with nine strikeouts and one walk in four innings. Lauren Flournoy pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
ReNaa Hicks had two home runs and four RBIs. Haley Tucker and Mia Mendez each had a triple. Brinley Beshirs had a double. Hartley had a double, a single and two RBIs. Hadison Maxey had two hits and three RBIs.
Also on Saturday, Legacy took wins over Brownsboro (5-0) and Jacksonville (18-3).
Hartley tossed a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks against Brownsboro.
Jenna Flournoy had a triple. Beshirs, Maxey and Mendez all had a double, and Mendez drove in two runs.
Against Jacksonville, Lauren Flournoy allowed three runs on five hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 3.1 innings.
Mendez had a home run, a triple and eight RBIs. Hicks had a home run, a single and four RBIs. Alyssa Baldwin had a double. Brynleigh Bertrand had a double, a single and two RBIs.
Legacy added two wins on Saturday over Queen City (14-2) and Union Grove (13-3).
Against Queen City, Hartley allowed one unearned on one hit with three strikeouts and a walk in two innings. Lauren Flournoy allowed one unearned run on three hits with a strikeout in three innings.
Hicks had a home run, a double, a single and two RBIs. Mendez had a triple, two doubles and two RBIs. Beshirs had a triple and two RBIs. Bertrand had a double.
Against Union Grove, Lauren Flournoy allowed three runs on two hits with two walks in 0.2 innings. Hartley allowed no runs on one hit with four strikeouts and a walk in 3.1 innings.
Kayla Allen, who started for the Lady Raider basketball team in a double-overtime playoff loss to Cedar Hill on Friday, had a home run, a single and two RBIs. Beshirs had a triple. Tucker had two doubles and three RBIs. Jenna Flournoy had a double, a single and two RBIs. Hartley had two hits and three RBIs. Baldwin and Maxey each added two hits and an RBI.
Tyler Legacy will host Mesquite at 6 p.m. Tuesday before hosting the Rose City Softball Classic beginning Thursday.
