Class 2A Division 2 Playoffs: Fruitvale advances to regional semifinals for 1st time

Fruitvale took a 44-35 win over Frost on Friday in the Class 2A Division 2 area round to advance to the regional semifinals for the first time in program history.

Reyli Rubio led Fruitvale with 14 points. Mady Bierl and Camila Marquez Torres each scored 11 points. Ady Caffey had 8 points.

Fruitvale trailed 11-7 at the end of the first quarter, 24-21 at halftime and 32-31 after three quarters.

Torres gave Fruitvale its first lead of the game with a bucket 45 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Fruitvale advances to face Chireno at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Chapel Hill.
