East Texas softball players earn 3A all-state honors

There were several selections from East Texas with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State Softball Team on Tuesday.

Rains’ Presley Kilgore, White Oak’s Jaidyn Marshall and Addison McClanahan and Tatum’s Camryn Milam were first-team selections.

Kilgore was chosen at third base, Marshall was selected at second base, Milam in the outfield and McClanahan at the designated hitter/designated player/flex position.


Voting was conducted by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.

Kilgore hit .691 with 10 home runs, 60 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. She struck out just once all season and had one error all season as her district’s Defensive MVP.

Marshall hit .466 for the Ladynecks with seven doubles, a triple, 20 RBI, 18 stolen bases and nine walks.

McClanahan was a .488 hitter with 10 home runs, three triples, 11 doubles, 44 RBI and four stolen bases.

Milam, who missed nearly all of the 2024 season with a knee injury, came back strong in 2025 and hit .480 with nine home runs, 15 doubles, a triple, 34 RBI and seven outfield assists.

Earning third-team honors from East Texas were Arp shortstop Neci Potts, Arp outfielder Addison Carpenter, Grand Saline first baseman Gracie Jo Currey, Hughes Springs DH/DP/Flex Madilyn Derrick and New Diana utility player Chloe Green.

Potts hit .564 with eight home runs, 11 doubles, three triples, 43 RBI, 54 runs scored, five walks and two strikeouts.

Carpenter was a .587 hitter with a home run, 15 doubles, three triples, 37 RBI, 56 runs scored, 17 walks, one strikeout and eight stolen bases.

Currey hit .518 with a home run, 12 doubles, three triples, 27 RBIs, 36 runs and two stolen bases.

Derrick hit .367 with 10 doubles, a triple and 26 RBI.

Green played shortstop and catcher and also pitched for New Diana. She hit .456 with three home runs, 22 RBI, 36 runs scored and two strikeouts all season while stealing 28 bases. In the circle, she struck out 70, walked 10 and had a 2.49 earned run average in 59 innings pitched.

Honorable mention selections from East Texas were Troup’s Taylor Gillispie, Arp’s Lacy Fletcher, Edgewood’s Presley Burton and Hughes Springs’ Addysyn Billings at pitcher; Arp’s Aubry Way, Mineola’s Courtney Nguyen, Rains’ Emma Knight, Elkhart’s Rylee Lohmeyer, Hughes Springs’ Tessa Dannelley and White Oak’s Kylie Caraway at catcher; Arp’s Maddie Birdsong, White Oak’s Kinnadie Rayson and Hooks’ Stella Fincher at first base; New Diana’s Addie Valle, Hooks’ Maddison Lewis and Hughes Springs’ Claira Robinson at third base; Grand Saline’s Alissa Fugate, White Oak’s Madi Baker, New Diana’s Taryn Reece and Hughes Springs’ Lilly Lambert at shortstop; Mineola’s Mahayla McMahon, Rains’ Hana Hyatte, Grand Saline’s Madi Fugate, Elkhart’s Ella Lively and Marisa Denny, Sabine’s Breanna Hill, New Diana’s Avery Howard and Hughes Springs’ Sadie Golden in the outfield; and Mineola’s Journey Wilson at utility.

Division II state champion Coahoma earned both top awards.

University of Texas signee Hannah Wells was named Player of the Year, and Alexander Orosco is Coach of the Year for the 2025 season.

Coahoma finished with a 35-1 record, defeating Lexington, 6-1, in the Division II state championship game.

Wells finished 22-1 in the pitcher’s circle with a 0.49 earned run average, 258 strikeouts and 31 walks in 127.2 innings pitched. She also hit .602 with 31 home runs, two triples, 15 doubles and 75 RBI.
