Area softball players earn all-state honors in Class 4A

Bullard had two second-team selections with the release of the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State Softball Team.
Voting was conducted by TSWA members based on nominations from coaches and media members from around the state.
Junior Brooklyn Brannen landed on the second team as a pitcher for the Lady Panthers, and freshman Karter Swanson earned a second-team nod at designated hitter/designated player/flex.
Brannen was 21-2 with a 1.01 ERA with 246 strikeouts in 123.2 innings. She hit .370 with three home runs, nine doubles, 31 RBIs, 42 runs and 35 stolen bases.
Swanson hit .326 with two home runs, two doubles, 14 RBIs and nine runs.
Lindale senior Merrick Gary was a third-team selection at second base, and Palestine junior Vivian Eckerman was a third-team pick in the outfield.
Gary hit .430 with four triples, nine doubles, 28 RBIs, 26 runs and 15 stolen bases.
Eckerman hit .510 with three home runs, two triples, six doubles, 18 RBIs, 24 runs and seven stolen bases.
Earning honorable mention honors were Chapel Hill’s Aaliyah Shabaan at first base; Van’s Mahayla McKinney and Rusk’s Aubrey Hassell at third base; Bullard’s Kirstin Malone and Lindale’s Makynli Zemer at shortstop; Van’s Emerson Swoape, Brownsboro’s Arabella Lowrance and Bullard’s Kenzi Roberts in the outfield.
Spring Hill had a pair of third-team selections, and Carthage added two second-team picks and a third-teamer.
Spring Hill’s Peyton Dees (outfield) and Kyndall Witt (utility) were third team picks, and teammates Aubreigh Whiddon (catcher), Josie Gray (first base), Sophie Robinett (second base), Khloe Saxon (third base) and Mattye Moore (outfield) earned honorable mention status for the Lady Panthers.
Dees hit .477 for the Lady Panthers with four doubles, a triple, 11 RBI, 47 runs scored, 31 walks and 52 stolen bases. Witt was a .470 hitter with 37 RBI, 14 walks and a .986 fielding percentage.
Carthage’s Jaleah Williams (second base) and Mallory Tutt (utility) were second team picks, while Mya Nelson (outfield) was a third team selection and Brooklyn Bagley (shortstop) was on the honorable mention list.
Williams hit .427 for Carthage with a .504 on base percentage, .913 slugging percentage, eight home runs, four triples, 18 doubles, 55 RBI, 46 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and a .953 fielding percentage. Tutt played shortstop, second base and pitched for the Lady Dawgs. She hit .458 with a .533 on base percentage, .569 slugging percentage, two triples, four doubles, 23 RBI, 39 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. In the circle, she worked 14 innings and had a 2-0 record with 17 strikeouts and a 1.50 earned run average.
Nelson hit .469 with a .543 on base percentage, .684 slugging percentage, six triples, nine doubles, 20 RBI, 55 runs scored and 38 stolen bases.
Henderson has selections on the elite team with honorable mention pitchers Jacie Boothe and Chloe Ellis and outfielder Addy Standley, and Kilgore’s Molly Quine (second base) also earned honorable mention status.
Jordyn Thibodeaux of Corpus Christi Calallen and Jimmy Eby of Robinson earned top honors. Thibodeaux earned Player of the Year honors, and Eby was selected as the division’s Coach of the Year.
Thibodeaux helped lead Corpus Christi Calallen to the Class 4A Division I state title. The McNeese State verbal pledge went 18-6 with four saves in the circle for Calallen, finishing with a 1.02 earned run average, 268 strikeouts and 43 walks in 144 innings pitched.
Eby led Robinson to a 37-3 record and the Class 4A Division II title with a 10-1 win over Aubrey.
