Funeral services for Casey Lynn Shaw Acker, 41, of Flint, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville with David “Took” Martin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2025, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Still Waters Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville.

Casey was born on August 20, 1983, in Tyler, and peacefully entered the Lord’s embrace surrounded by loving family and close friends on June 17, 2025.

Casey’s journey in education began with her graduation from Jacksonville ISD in 2001. She pursued her passion for teaching at Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a degree in education that would shape countless young lives.

Her career as an educator was marked by unwavering dedication and a deep love for her students. She taught Pre-K at West Side in Jacksonville. She later spent five years at Cain Elementary in Whitehouse. As a second-grade teacher in Bullard, Casey continued to inspire, earning the title of Primary Teacher of the Year and District Elementary Teacher of the Year and TIA Master Teacher — testaments to her excellence in the classroom.
Beyond teaching, Casey found strength and community in her faith, attending Cross Brand Cowboy Church in Tyler. She carried her values into her life’s work, offering encouragement, wisdom, and unwavering support to all who knew her.

She will be remembered as an educator, mentor, and beloved member of the community and will be missed by so many.

Casey was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles “Pete” Meador; grandparents, Charles and Gayle Shaw; grandmother, Virginia B. Mayfield; uncle, Gary Don Meador; grandparents-in-law, Red and Doris Acker, Brevard Cheek and Bobbie Elkins; and pet pals, Dallas, Ruff, and Barkley.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Ches Acker; parents, Chuck and Sherry (Meador) Shaw; daughter, Lauren Acker; son, Wyatt Acker; sister and brother-in-law, Shelly and Brian Self, of Chandler, and brother and sister-in-law, Brady and Macie Shaw, of Henderson; grandmother, JoAnn Meador; nieces and nephews, Raleigh Self, Hagan Shaw, Letha, Leland, Aason, Carolyn, and Skyler; father-in-law, Jim Acker and wife, Hortencia; and mother-in-law, Sheryl Acker.

Pallbearers will be Brian Self, Dusty Shank, Dustin Kennedy, Cash Acker, Randy Scott Meador, and Eric Prokisch.
