Grand Saline ISD announced that Travis Jackson will be the new head baseball coach of the Indians.

Jackson has been a head baseball coach for 21 years, winning more than 450 games.

In 2017, he led Central Heights to the Class 3A state championship, where the Blue Devils took a 10-0 win over Wall. Jackson was named the 2017 MaxPreps National Small School Coach of the Year.

Under Jackson in nine seasons, Central Heights amassed 237 wins.

Before Central Heights, Jackson was the head coach at Mineola. Before that, he was at his alma mater of Overton, where he led the Mustangs to the state baseball tournament in Class 1A in 2009 and 2011.

Jackson takes over for Kinney LaPrade, who was at Grand Saline for seven seasons, winning 161 games. The Indians went 25-13 this season, advancing to the regional semifinals before falling to Boyd.

Jackson and his wife, Courtni, have two kids, Maddi and Tatum.
