Law enforcement officers are searching for an armed robbery suspect after an incident at a Winona convenience store Tuesday morning.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office said just before 11 a.m. that its deputies are on the scene at the Courtesy Mart, located in the 300 block of South Main Street in Winona. The alleged armed robbery took place around 10:30 a.m.

The sheriff’s office said a suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and robbed the clerk. It’s not known at this time how much money the suspect took.

The man fled on foot toward the liquor store next to the convenience store.

He is described as a Black male who is about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-9, medium build, wearing a black mask, grey hoodie, and blue jeans.

Several law enforcement agencies are currently assisting the sheriff’s office. Currently, resources include the Smith County K-9 and a drone.
