BULLARD — Bullard ISD will be searching for a new superintendent after Dr. Jack Lee was named the lone finalist to lead Seguin ISD.
The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees selected Lee as its lone finalist for superintendent, the district said in a press release Tuesday night. Lee has served as Bullard ISD’s superintendent since 2019.
Texas law requires boards to wait at least 21 days before formally approving a superintendent contract. Bullard ISD said in a statement Tuesday night that during this waiting period, Lee will continue his role within Bullard ISD.
In the coming weeks, the Bullard ISD Board of Trustees will discuss plans for searching for a new superintendent, the district said.
Seguin’s school board pointed to Lee’s leadership qualities, including successes within Bullard ISD during his time serving the Smith County school district. He led the 4A district to an “A” rating, restructured the district’s curriculum, established a mental health support system, and led a $103 million bond project, which was passed by voters, to help fund new facilities.
The ond’s latest project, a new Bullard Middle School, was recently announced as being off-schedule. It was projected to open in August in time for the new school year but has since been delayed to January 2026.
Lee’s prior experience includes five years with Blooming Grove ISD, where he served as a high school principal and eventually superintendent; as well as Hillsboro ISD, where he worked as assistant principal and band director.
Lee holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctor of Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. A native of Whitney, Lee played basketball, performed in the high school band, and served as senior class president at Whitney High School.
His wife Jessica works for Bullard ISD. The couple has two children, Jackson, 14, and Emmy, 10.
The selection of Lee marks the end of a two-month search process conducted by Texas Association of School Boards Executive Search Services. The Seguin board hired TASB in April, accepted applications through May, and conducted interviews in June.
The district’s current interim superintendent, Elizabeth Banks, will continue in the role during the state-mandated 21-day waiting period. Trustees will hold a final vote on Lee at a special meeting on July 10.
