The City of Kilgore introduced its new Chief Building Official to council members and staff at their regular meeting last week.

Johnny Carnes was introduced to the mayor and council by Director of Planning Carol Windham.

Windham said Carnes had already been on the job for two weeks in Kilgore and came from his former position with City of Longview.

Carnes has over 25 years of experience in the plumbing trade and has been a building inspector for 10 years. His wife works in education in Marshall and his hobbies include woodworking and scuba diving.

“He has really hit the ground running and we are expecting great things from him. You’ll be seeing him a lot,” Windham said.

“I’m happy to be here,” Carnes said.
