The Bullard Lady Panthers are in the Elite Eight.

Bullard defeated Sunnyvale on penalty kicks on Friday to capture the Class 4A Division 2 Region II soccer semifinal at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

After 100 minutes of play the teams were tied 1-1. The Lady Panthers then won on penalty kicks 3-2.

Bullard (20-1) won its 20th consecutive match to improve to 20-1 on the season. The Lady Panthers will play now play Aubrey on Tuesday in the Region II final. The contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Caddo Mills.

“The young ladies never quit through their time on the field, and definitely left the pitch with nothing left,” Bullard Coach Tiffany Cooksey said. “This was a pivotal moment for the program, as they set the bar even higher, making school history. They made it to the semifinal round four years ago, but fell short. So, this was their moment and it is a huge one for the girls.”

The teams were tied 0-0 at halftime.

The lone goal for Bullard was by Rylie Graul, which was assisted by Mollie Carlile, at 35:10.

Cooksey said Carlile “served a fantastic corner service.”

Sunnyvale scored with about 10 minutes left in regulation.

Scoring on PKs were Bullard’s Carlile, Niyah Gee and Addison Cooksey.

“Addison’s fourth PK make was pivotal in creating the lead for Bullard, forcing Sunnyvale the need to make their next shot … and they missed allowing us to take the win,” Coach Cooksey said.

After missing the first PK, Bullard made three straight. The Lady Raiders made their first two kicks, followed by a block from sophomore goalkeeper Cadence Graul. Sunnyvale then missed the next two and the Lady Panthers celebrated.

“The whole defense played an amazing game,” Coach Cooksey said. “We defend with five players and against a strong team like Sunnyvale, it was definitely a group effort. Landrey Bighorse’s speed and power most definitely was key in hanging with Sunnyvale’s fast No. 7 forward (Victoria Morales). Sophomore keeper, Cadence Graul had an outstanding match and even blocked one of the PK shots by Sunnyvale. Way to fight ladies.”
