Softball: Crouch hit lifts Van by Canton

VAN 3, CANTON 2

VAN — Averi Crouch had an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead Van to a 3-2 win over Canton.



After Canton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, Jailey Potter homered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game for the Lady Vandals.

Canton went up 2-1 in the top of the seventh inning, but Van once again answered, sending the game to extra innings.

Crouch and Potter each had a hit and an RBI. CharLee Carr drove in the run in the bottom of the seventh.

Most Popular

Emerson Swoape, Mahayla McKinney, Maylan Hale and Lanna Tschirhart all had a hit for Van.

Potter allowed two runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and three walks in eight innings.

Lily Cervantes had three hits for Canton. Kara Pride had two hits with a double. Rylee Busby had a double. Kai Hudson and Bailey Koonce each had a hit.

Hudson allowed three runs — two earned — on six hits with 17 strikeouts and two walks in 7.2 innings.
