Softball Notebook: Whitehouse’s Analee Becerra, Grand Saline’s McKennah Davis take weekly honors

Whitehouse’s Analee Becerra and Grand Saline’s McKennah Davis have earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Softball Player of the Week honors for games played March 3-8.

Becerra is the Hitter of the Week, and Davis is the Pitcher of the Week.



Becerra, a sophomore, went 5-for-8 (.625) with three home runs, nine RBIs and seven runs scored.

Davis, a sophomore, went 2-0 with wins over Edgewood and Winona. She allowed just one hit and one run with 17 strikeouts, posting a 0.70 ERA.

PITCHING

Whitehouse’s Taylor Morris went 2-0, allowing three earned runs on three hits with 20 strikeouts and four walks, posting a 2.33 ERA in nine innings.

Bullard junior Brooklyn Brannen had a 1.00 ERA with 18 strikeouts.

Arp’s Lacy Fletcher had a 2.50 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 14 innings.

Mineola’s Mycah Morman had a 2.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts and two hits allowed in a 9-3 win over Eustace.

HITTING

Tyler Legacy’s ReNaa Hicks went 3-for-5 (.600) with a double, three runs and four stolen bases.

Whitehouse’s Laney Crawford went 5-for-7 (.714) with three doubles, three RBIs and three runs. Larkin Jones went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double five RBIs and two runs.

Bullard junior Denim Boles went 2-for-3 (.667)

Arp’s Addison Carpenter went 5-for-8 (.625) with a double and two runs.

Mineola’s Kaitlyn McMahon had five hits and hit .625 with two doubles, one triple, four RBIs and six runs. Mycah Norman had four hits and hit .571 with a double, an RBI and four runs. Jadelyn Marshall had four hits and hit .571 with two doubles, a triple and six RBIs.

Grand Saline junior Kolbi Phillips hit .750 with a double, three RBIs, five runs and two stolen bases. Senior Alissa Fugate hit .600 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs and two stolen bases. Freshman Madi Fugate hit .571 with a double and two RBIs. Junior Gracie Jo Currey hit .500 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs.

Van’s Emerson Swoape went 4-for-6 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs and a walk in two games.

East Texas teams ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings are Hallsville No. 14 in Class 5A; Bullard No. 9, Sulphur Springs No. 20 and Gilmer No. 25 in 4A; DeKalb No. 10, Arp No. 14, Corrigan-Camden No. 20, Huntington No. 21 and Elkhart No. 22 in 3A; and Timpson No. 2, Detroit No. 15, Mount Enterprise No. 18 and Groveton No. 20 in 2A/1A.
