Apaches host Joliet after sweeping Navarro

After sweeping Navarro College on Sunday, the TJC Apaches will play host to Joliet (Illinois) in a baseball game on Tuesday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.

First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.

The Apaches won 3-2 and 3-1 against the Bulldogs in Region XIV Conference play.

The wins moved Tyler Junior College to 15-10 overall and 4-6 in conference. Navarro dropped to 8-13 and 3-5.

GAME 1



TJC rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score a 3-2 victory.

Navarro scored two runs in the top of the fourth and the Apaches tied it in the bottom of the inning and plated the eventual winning run in the fifth.

Chase Fuentes paced the Apaches with two hits and two RBIs. Sawyer Dunagan and Landry Stamps hit doubles for the Tribe. Dalton Wilson, Gabe Flores and Preston Newberry added singles.

Stamps, Wilson and Flores all scored runs.

Trevor Breaux (1-0) got the win in relief, hurling the final three innings while not allowing a hit or a walk with five strikeouts.

Cody Brasch threw the first inning (1 hit, 0 runs, 1 walk, 1 strikeout) with Landon Fuller tossing the next three innings (5 hits, 2 runs, 0 walks, 3 strikeouts).

Hank Harp and McCann Libby had doubles for the Bulldogs. Harp also had a double.

Others with hits for NC were Braxton Hefferman, Steven Ramos and Jacob Cruz. Ramos and Christian Hallmark knocked in runs and Libby and Hefferman scored runs.

GAME 2

Navarro scored its run in the first inning with the Apaches tying it in the bottom of the inning and then scoring two in the third for the 3-1 lead.

Will Patterson (2-2) and Luke Devasher (save, 2) combined on the three-hitter.

Patterson pitched five innings, allowing three hits and one run with four walks and four strikeouts. Devasher tossed the final four innings and did not allow a hit or walk with four strikeouts.

Zack Zavala, Flores, Levi Risenhoover and Nico Ruedas each had doubles for the Tribe.

Stamps and Lathan Van Ausdall had two hits apiece. Fuentes also had a single.

Van Ausdall had two RBIs with Zavala, Newberry and Stamps scoring runs.

Harp, Brady Englett and Tyler Sessions had singles for Navarro. Englett drove in Brock DeYoung for the lone Bulldog run.
