TJC, UT Tyler baseball games moved to Sunday

UT Tyler and TJC had their baseball games moved to Sunday after rain postponed Saturday’s scheduled contests.

The No. 3 Patriots (17-4 overall and in Lone Star Conference) meet No. 21 West Texas A&M (14-5, 12-5) in a doubleheader scheduled for 2 and 5 p.m. on Sunday at Irwin Field. The fourth game of the series is slated for noon Monday.
West Texas A&M took Game 1 of the series on Friday, 4-3. The Buffaloes took a 4-0 lead and then stopped the UT Tyler rally.
Elijah Batista led WT A&M with two hits (single, double) and two RBIs.
Kyle Atkinson had a home run for the Patriots with doubles from Mason Hammonds and Tanner Hornback. Hammonds, Hornback and Atkinson each had two hits with Atkinson (2) and Hammonds (1) driving in runs.
The UT Tyler softball team is also scheduled to play on Sunday. The No. 1 Patriots (21-2, 12-2) face Western New Mexico (6-17, 3-11) at noon and 2 p.m. at Irwin Field.

The Apaches (13-10 overall and 2-6 in Region XIV) meet Navarro College (8-11, 3-3) in Tyler on Sunday. The games are set for 1 and 3:30 p.m. at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Mike Carter Field.
Tyler Junior College was scheduled to face Joliet (Illinois) on Sunday, but that game is now slated for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mike Carter. The Joliet Wolves (3-3) will now play Panola on Sunday in Carthage (2 p.m.), followed by a visit to Angelina in Lufkin on Monday (2 p.m.).
The Apache Ladies softball team (17-7, 3-1) are fresh off sweeping Navarro (10-10, 0-2) on Friday in a doubleheader in Corsicana.
They will next play on Monday, visiting Ranger College for 1 and 3 p.m. games. The Apache Ladies return home on Wednesday, hosting LSU-Eunice at 1 and 3 p.m.
