Brook Hill captures back-to-back state soccer titles

Brook Hill is champion of the soccer world once again.

For the second consecutive season, the Guard captured the state championship when they defeated Brownsville St. Joseph Academy 4-0 in the TAPPS Division II title game on Friday at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex in Round Rock.



Coach David Collins’ squad finishes the season at 18-1-1.

Enrico Gilberto scored two goals with one apiece from Javi Gavito and Jose Gonzalez.

Goalkeeper Christian Pous had another standout performance, making six saves for the clean sheet.

On Thursday, the Guard scored a 3-0 victory over Grapevine Faith Christian in the semifinals.

Last year, the Guard posted a 21-1-1 record and defeated Houston British International in a shootout (1-0, 6-5 in PKs) to win the TAPPS Division III crown.

David Collins is the head coach. Assistants are Austin Reed and Jullia Trabach. The trainer is Laurie Nafe.
