Brook Hill blanks Grace for regional soccer title

The Brook Hill soccer squad is heading back to the state tournament to defend their title.

Enrico Gilberti had a hat trick as the Guard scored an 8-0 win over the Grace Community Cougars in the TAPPS Division II regional final on Thursday at Tyler Legacy Red Raider Field.



Jose Gonzalez, Kamsi Amaonwu, Joash Kondru, Javier Gavito and Rodrigo Perez added the other goals.

Assists were from Jose Gonzalez and Kamsi Amaonwu.

Christian Pous was in goal, making eight saves for the clean sheet.

Brook Hill, which finished 9-0 in district, moves to 16-1-1 on the season.

The Guard takes on Grapeland Faith Christian in the state semifinals at 3 p.m. March 6 at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex.

Grapeland Faith defeated Dallas Cristo Rey 2-1 in another regional.

Also advancing to the state tournament were San Antonio Christian (11-1 over Houston Second Baptist) and Brownsville St. Joseph (4-0 over The Woodlands Christian). They will play in the other semifinal.

The semifinal winners advance to the championship game which is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday, March 7 in Round Rock.

David Collins is the head coach. Assistants are Austin Reed and Jullia Trabach. The trainer is Laurie Nafe.
