It may have been cloudy with some drizzle on Sunday afternoon in Tyler, but the stars were shining bright.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Stars were announced by Robert Bardin, Northeast Texas Chapter of FCA director.

More than 320 players were nominated for the seven teams who will participate in the Heart of a Champion Week. Some 120 players were chosen for the NETX FCA All-Stars for football, cheer, baseball and softball. More than 40 Northeast Texas coaches have volunteered for this year’s all-star camps and games.

This will be the 15th year for NETX FCA Heart of a Champion Football Game, sponsored by Chick-fil-A, 11th year for softball and 10th for baseball.

Tyler Junior College will host the All-Star camp June 5-7. The baseball and softball games are scheduled for June 6 at Tyler Legacy High School (6:30 p.m., tickets are $5).

The football game is scheduled for June 7 on Earl Campbell Field at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler (6:30 p.m. kickoff, tickets are $10, under age 10, $5).

Bardin said the All-Star week has three goals — 1, Bring glory to God; 2, Bring recognition to the work of FCA on the middle school, high school, and college and university campuses in Northeast Texas; and 3, Highlight the talent of NETX athletes and coaches.

He added the vision is “To lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.”

Barbin said the core values include:

Integrity (We will demonstrate Christ-like wholeness, privately, and publicly. Proverbs 11:3);

Serving (We will model Jesus’ example of serving. John 13:1-17);

Teamwork (We will express our unity in Christ in all our relationships. Philippians 2:1-4); and

Excellence (We will honor and glorify God in all we do. Colossians 3:23-24).
