HUNTINGTON — Layne Alexander scored 20 points as Bullard opened the Class 4A Division I basketball playoffs with a 69-48 win over Lumberton.

Alexander made five 3-pointers. The Panthers had 15 made triples as a team.

Tyler Lamberth scored 14 points.

Bullard led 16-12 after the first quarter, 32-23 at halftime, and 54-31 after three quarters.

Other scorers for Bullard were Phillip Montoya 9; Caden Cummings 6; Cade Craig; Luke Alexander 6; Melhart 3; Korenek 3; and Campbell Pawlak 2.

Bullard advances to face No. 14 Huffman Hargrave (30-2) at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Lufkin.

Huffman Hargrave defeated Houston Worthing, 82-58, in bi-district.
