Girls Soccer Notebook: Grace Community’s Elle Durham, Brook Hill’s Hadleigh Clark take weekly honor

Grace Community’s Elle Durham and Brook Hill’s Hadleigh Clark have earned Tyler Morning Telegraph Girls Soccer Player of the Week honors for games played Feb. 3-8.

Durham had seven goals and two assists to help the Lady Cougars move to 5-0 in district and secure the No. 1 seed in next week’s district tournament in Round Rock.



Clark, a senior forward, scored six goals in a win over Cristo Rey. She has 12 goals and two assists in district play, and she will attend Texas Christian University in the fall.

In other outstanding performances in the area last week (nominated by coaches):

Whitehouse sophomore midfielder Ella Fishback has seven goals and four assists in district play.

Bishop Gorman sophomore goalkeeper Riley Hillin had 20 saves in a loss to All Saints.

Henderson goalkeeper Corley Clark has allowed just four goals in six district games.

Bullard sophomore Mollie Carlile had six goals — three against Brownsboro and three against Athens. She has 11 goals in the last three games after recently returning from injury.

In the Lethal Soccer State Rankings, Tyler Legacy is No. 29 in Class 6A; Jacksonville No. 32 in Class 5A; and Bullard No. 12, Pine Tree No. 24, Henderson No. 34 and Palestine No. 37 Class 4A.

East Texas teams ranked in the Texas Girls Coaches Association rankings are Jacksonville No. 10 in 5A; and Bullard No. 10, Kilgore No. 17 and Paris No. 21 in 4A.
