Tyler Legacy, Bullard looking to close out district championships

HEATH — Tyler Legacy moved one step closer to winning the District 10-6A boys basketball championship with a 59-55 win at Rockwall-Heath on Friday.
It was the eighth win in a row for the Red Raiders (21-12, 9-2), who are now all alone atop the 10-6A standings with a home contest against North Forney (13-20, 1-10) in the regular season finale scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Rockwall, which lost to Royse City 62-59 on Friday, is now one game back of the Red Raiders at 8-3 and will host Longview on Tuesday. Rockwall-Heath is 8-4 and has a bye on Tuesday. Royse City is 7-4 and is at Forney on Tuesday.
Ja’Corian Oes finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds, going 10 of 14 from the field and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.
Jayden Jones had 11 points, Zyere Ceasar 9, Gage Nuckolls 6, JP Rainer 3 and Josh Hall 2. Nuckolls had four rebounds and six assists, and Jones added three rebounds and three assists.
BULLARD 69, RUSK 48
RUSK — Layne Alexander scored 19 points to lead Bullard to a 69-48 win over Rusk for the Panthers’ eighth consecutive victory.
Other scorers for Bullared were Tyler Lamberth 10; Campbell Pawlak 10; Luke Alexander 9; Caden Cummings 8; Phillip Montoya 6; Walker Garcia 3; Drake Thigpen 2; and Dylan Kress 2.
Jermichael Sturns led Rusk with 21 points.
Bullard (24-8, 8-1) will host Hudson (15-17, 5-4) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday looking to clinch the outright District 17-4A basketball championship.
