TYLER — Our beautiful sweet mother, Lyda F. Gray, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the age of 97.
Lyda was born to Jabez Monroe and Iva Dell (Holder) Whitten on June 16, 1927, in Saltillo, Texas. She was married to Jack Willard Gray with whom she shared 61 years together. Lyda was widely known for her incredible talent in monogramming and sewing, skills that she shared generously with her family and friends. Her handiwork touched the lives of many; she was a cherished part of the community.
Lyda graduated from Saltillo High School at the age of 16 and was valedictorian of her class.
She was preceded in death by her spouse Jack Gray; parents, Jabez and Iva Whitten; her son, Kelly Gray; and her daughter, Janet Weber.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Moore of Abilene, TX and her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Mary Gray of Flint, TX. 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandsons, numerous extended family; and her sewing buddy and best friend, Linda O’Neal.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Old Saltillo Church (664 CR 3357 – Saltillo, TX 75478) at 11:00 a.m. in Saltillo, Texas. Daniel Gray will be officiating and serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Gray, Travis Gray, Kelly Paul Gray, Lane Gray, Nathan Abercrombie and Randy Woodall.
